The Problem

Like so many others, I have a demanding job that keeps me busy all day, so I always look for ways to save time. I was excited about smart home products to increase efficiency, but living in a rental apartment, I worried about making permanent changes. The process seemed complicated and expensive, so I gave up on the idea.

When I had the chance to design an app, I thought of Smartify. An app that offers a fresh approach to smart homes, guiding users in transforming their spaces by identifying device upgrades and offering tailored recommendations. With step-by-step instructions and a robust management system, Smartify makes the process simple and accessible, ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of a smart home.

Conclutions

Creating Smartify has been an eye-opening journey, demonstrating how smart home technology can enhance daily life.

Initially, I was worried about the complexity, cost, and fitting into rental apartments. Research highlighted concerns like ease of use, privacy, and device compatibility with other systems.

Those insights shaped Smartify, an app that simplifies the transition to a smart home with tailored recommendations, and detailed installation instructions to create a guide.

If I had more time, I would develop tools that specifically target multiple space applications, simplify whole-home recommendations, and add community and budgeting features. I’d also improve onboarding for clarity and enhance customization so users can tailor the app from the start.
